Celebrate
World Portable Sanitation Day, in conjunction with World Toilet Day November 19, is about taking action to reach the 2.4 billion people living without a toilet and inspiring action to tackle the global sanitation crisis. The theme of World Toilet Day 2017 is ‘wastewater,’ focusing on how proper sanitation allows for proper wastewater treatment and the safe reuse of recycled water. Toilets play a crucial role in creating a strong economy, as well as improving health and protecting people’s safety and dignity, particularly that of women and girls.
The UN and its partners are getting the message out that toilets save lives, increase productivity, create jobs, and grow economies.
It is important to note that portable sanitation plays a key role in this overarching initiative. Portable units provide an important option when the structural requirements for indoor restrooms are not available or water is in short supply. It is for this reason that the Portable Sanitation Association International (PSAI) has moved their World Portable Sanitation Day celebration to November 19 in the hopes of aligning portable sanitation awareness with global sanitation awareness.
Key facts:
- 2.4 billion people live without improved sanitation. – World Health Organization (WHO)/UNICEF 2015.

Sarabia’s Portable Jons is a proud member of the Portable Sanitation Association International (PSAI) and is participating in the Education Initiative. The PSAI is a trade association aiming to improve and expand portable sanitation facilities through education and industry standards.
The Education Initiative is a voluntary group of portable restroom operators and supplier members of the PSAI who want to make a difference in the world by investing our time, talents and resources educating others about the value of portable sanitation and helping those that do not have adequate sanitation.
Over one-third of the world’s population does not have access to proper sanitation, and we want to help change the tide on this global issue.
As a participant in the Education Initiative, Sarabia’s will help bring awareness to the El Paso community through World Portable Sanitation Day, which will be observed on August 15, 2016. We invite our esteemed customers to get involved in our effort to improve sanitation around the world. Stay tuned for more information!
